MY STORY

Thank you for reading.

For 15 years I dedicated my life to helping animals in need. I loved it, and for many years it filled my life with joy. I also had an incredibly special friend during that time, his name was Kuzco. He was my dog, my family, and my emotional support companion. For 14 years he took care of me just as much as I took care of him. He was my shadow, saw me become a mother, took care of my babies, and till this day continues to be part of my life.

As an avid animal lover and with years of service in the veterinary field, I met and worked with great people and experienced many wonderful things. But there were times that I witnessed lots of heartaches when families lost their pets. I knew that when the time came for Kuzco to leave this world my life would never be the same. Towards the end of 2019, I saw my Kuzco’s age catching up with him and I had to make the most difficult decision of my life. I let him go and he went in peace on December 3rd of 2019.

After Kuzco passed, I continued doing what I have always done, helping animals in need. It became increasingly difficult for me to see those heartaches and even the wonderful things did not make them better. On New Year’s Eve of 2019, I had a dream of being at a farmers market selling soaps. Why? I have no idea, but it seemed so real and so wonderful that I told myself I must do it.

At the beginning of 2020, I also lost my incredible grandmother “Mamita” a strong Peruvian woman, my second mother. She thought me about the Peruvian culture, family, food, ingredients, music, and how to never give up. Soon thereafter Pura Tierra Inka Blends started taking shape, Peruvian themed in honor of my grandmother and the “K” in Inka in honor of my beloved Kuzco. I then began thinking about helping people and having my own business. I spent the next 6 months chipping away at my ideas and putting together all the knowledge I needed to make my dream a reality. After my buddy passed, I never looked at my job the same way and knew I needed a change. I retired from being a Vet Technician in August of 2020 and started dedicating my time to my family, my business, and my dream.

Together my husband and I learned everything we could by doing research, and by trial and error. At times we felt lost, we were rejected,  and we made mistakes but then we found support, we received feedback and we listened to our customers. Our motivation comes from seeing people happy with our products, teaching people about the Peruvian culture, and how aboriginal groups around the world used natural ingredients for their wellbeing.

Our goal is to bring unique, affordable, and natural products to everyone willing to Trust the Inka Way. We love doing what we do and being ourselves at Farmers Markets & Pop-up events. I have met so many inspiring people and made so many new friends that I have now found my next calling. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting our small business. Hope to see you at one of our future events or at our little shop in Garden Grove, CA! :)

Sincerely,

Yajaira Morales
